The Stargate Convention (SGC) is a non-profit convention held in France in February 2009 with the french dubbers of Stargate Atlantis and Stargate SG-1 as special guests. A second edition will be planned for 2010 called Starway Convention (or SGC2).

Organisation

Date and localization

The convention start on Saturday 21 February 2009 at 13:00 and take place until the Sunday 22 at 20:00.

It's located in the 12th arrondissement of Paris in France. The Espace Reuilly, a 1000m² and 800 persons capacity auditorium is at service. During and after the event, the choice of this room was strongly criticised due to the lack of capacity. Fan have to wait until several hours behind the doors before acces the convention. This disadvantage was imputed to the succes of the SGC who receive more than 3.000 people.

Crew

The event is organized by a non-profit association Porte des étoiles according to the French Voluntary association "Loi 1901".

The SGC is lead by Pierre 'Portonaute' as main organiser and Olivier 'Krypto69' as assistant organiser. The first supervise the organisation and the second is the webmaster and creator of the official medias. The communication is lead by David 'Arkaine' Jourdain and worked up with is crew :

The convention is also prepared with several volunteers.

Promotion

The official website was launch the 1st September 2008 and on 22 January 2009, a hotline is established.

The French dubbers from Stargate Atlantis also guest of the convention record a message to promote it. It can be listen on the official website. Pierre 'Portonaute' was the secial guest of the 7th episode of the Le Podcast Stargate Worlds France on December 2008. On 29 January 2009, The chanel Série Club broadcast a documentary Stargate : en route vers les étoiles at the time of the Stargate Atlantis season 4 diffusion. The channel cite the SGC.

The Campagne Galactique (Galactic Campaign) englobe all the promotional medias publicized via the partners overs the internet. This marketing campaign ask the fans to create media supports and reward their participation with gift given by the convention guest for all the best realization the day of the event. The held back creations are listed below with some description. The best creations was chosen by the fan at the convention and rewarded.

Program

The guest are the french dubbers of Stargate Atlantis, Stargate SG-1, Smallville, Harry Potter, Knight Rider, Star Wars and The X-Files. Interviews, demonstrations of dubbing and autograph sessions were planned.

The pilot of the series Sanctuary was shown for the first time in french. The KITT car from Knight Rider was exhibited behind the SGC entrance. A Stargate device reproduction decorate the room.

The fan film Stargate SG-17: Instinct de chasse with the Stargate Troopers team was aired.

Scene show

A four 20 minutes parts scene show (Spectacle sur scène) is staged and played over the two days event but it was cancelled.
